1. It is all good practice
If you really want to improve you should go kiting as much as you can. Light wind, strong wind, flat water, waves,… every experience on the water will give you more confidence with your kite and your board.
2. It is good to challenge yourself
Sometimes it is helpful to cross the line of your comfort zone… just to push yourself a bit more than you would normally which will in turn give you confidence to make you want to do it again.
3. You will be forced to try different styles
It’s nice to try new stuff. For instance if the wind is too strong maybe it is nice to focus on high jumps instead off staying on rotations or unhooked tricks…
The water is a bit choppy, try to use the kickers to do some grabs.
You will have the chance to try new things that you wouldn’t try if you were on your home spot with your regular conditions.
4. You will view kiting with a new perspective
Sometimes going kiting when it is tough conditions is just a question of going out and that’s all. You will be instantly proud of yourself after just having been out and done couples of tacks.
You will see kiting with a new perspective and you will go kiting as you would normally go running or cycling.
5. It can be a good workout
You burn so many more calories when you have to fight against the cold and tough conditions.
When the conditions are strong and there are waves all your body is working and you don’t even realise how much you exercise you are getting, which is even better!
6. The post-sessions are even more rewarding
That feeling! The one you get after a cold and tough session… when you can feel all your body and you get to take a hot bath and relax.
We can guaranty than the evening after will be one filled with satisfaction.
7. You will have confidence to ride any types of spot
Nothing will scare you after. You will be ready to go kiting in all conditions in different spots without doubting your abilities.
8. You will be more aware of the weather
Riding in tough conditions will make you learn the basics of meteorology and you will know how the spots are working in relation to the conditions… and then when someone asks you where to go and what to look out for, you will be the one in the know!
9. You will feel brave and less scared to meet new challenges
Doing something challenging is always good for self-confidence and you will certainly want to try other new things in life.
You will not be scared of trying a new sport or doing something that you thought would have been crazy in the past.
10. When you get back to perfect conditions you will see the difference
Trying your tricks that you are able to do in light conditions in strong wind is different and harder. So if you train and try your moves in tough conditions you will see just how much easier it can be on butter flat water with moderate and constant wind.
Please always remember that whilst pushing yourself is encouraged and can be rewarding. Never kite in winds where you cannot control your kite, walk backwards safely on the beach, or alone.
Take care out there.
