10 Reasons Why Being a Mum Will Not Stop Your Kiting Passion

Having a child will change your life, but it is up to you to make sure it is a positive change. Here are 10 reasons why being a mum does not mean the end of your kiting passion.

Having a child will change your life, but it is up to you to make sure it is a positive change.

This means that you are not obliged to put your sporting life on hold just because you have become a mother. It is up to you to force yourself to leave the house, go to the beach, take a walk in the fresh air, whatever you like just with your baby …because even if they are only 3 weeks old now, this little friend will be there to share so many things with you.

1. It is a new challenge

A child is a new challenge and if you are sporty then you will relish a challenge. It is even more rewarding when at the end of the day you realise you have accomplished everything you wanted to even with the responsibility of this little thing with you.

2. It makes you have a healthy lifestyle

Being pregnant and having a baby means you have to take care of yourself, what you eat, your health and staying active. So when you coo for you and your little angel it is easier to choose the best nutritional options for you.

3. It makes you happy

A baby will bring you a lot of happiness (although they often also bring a fair amount of tiredness too) …you will love watching them grow and marvel at all of the things that you love to do, …and then of course they will want to try them, yes we are talking about surfing and kiting.

4. It keeps you very active

Just having a baby alone is a sport that will make you lose weight. Carrying and running around after them all day is more exercise than you will realise …and if you are an active person in your life then you will be even more so as a mum.

5. It gives you good motivation to stay in shape

Being a mum and still managing to keep control of your body will make you feel fantastic. There is nothing more satisfying than receiving compliments on your shape after you have had a baby and it really motivates you to take even more care of yourself.

6. It is an opportunity to share everything

Having a child is a chance to share everything with them. Their first wave on a surf board, that experience between your legs behind a kite, the first hike in the mountains, first time on a bike …in short all of those wonderful moments can now be shared and appreciated by someone who sees them only with wonder.

7. It will make you focus and become efficient in your sports

Looking after a child means sharing your sessions with Papa which means although you may spend a little less time on the water but your sessions will be forced to be more intense and efficient.

If you are trying a new trick with your kite you can’t spend 2 hours in the water filled with half hearted attempts, you will have to give it 300% or nothing because a session of 45 minutes with a 10 minute warm up forces you to go after your objectives.

8. It will make you enjoy every moment

A baby gets you up in the morning, even on weekends. So if the conditions are best at 8am on a Sunday, you will be the first to the spot.

9. You learn to deal with anything, and sometime get to jump the line

If you want your child to discover the world with you as a real traveller they will need their own board bag to carry 3 months worth of supplies, and then add your 2 board bags, a pushchair and everything else …and once you learn to manage this you will be able to deal with anything. the plus side of this is also that in airports you have VIP status, security, customs, getting on the plane, the lot.

10. It will actually allow you to spend MORE time at the beach

There is nothing more enjoyable than spending time at the beach with children. the jump in the water, the sand, the sea …your little one will be in heaven and you will be outdoors in your favourite bikini waiting for papa to finish in the water for your turn to surf, swim or kite.
