Ronix 2017 Boots Are Here

Ronix 2017 Boots Are Here

Nothing that gives us butterflies in our stomach quite as much as seeing the new seasons Ronix boots for the first time. The time for 2017 is now.

It’s strange but as excited as we get each year about the 2017 kites and boards, there is nothing that gives us butterflies in our stomach quite as much as seeing the new seasons Ronix boots for the first time.

Maybe it is because we are girls and we put a lot of thought into what goes onto our feet, or maybe it is that moment of knowing what your final setup will look like (they always come out after the 2017 kite board), either way, there is no need to wait any longer as they are now here.

What is all the fuss with Ronix boots anyway?

There are many different companies who make wake boots and kite specific boots, but if you look on the beach at any pro’s setup who is not bound by sponsor obligations or financial restrictions you will 99% of the time see a pair of Ronix boots on their board.

Why? Well they may be reputed to not last as long as some other brands (although in their defence since 2015 ours have always lasted the year – just), and their laces often stay tight when replaced with another brands laces (Liquid Force in case your wondering – and they come in lots of lovely colours),  but there is no other boot on the market with the same level of comfortable and at such a light weight.

You can see we are both critics and fans and everyone in our office rides Ronix, and pays full price for them (unless someone from Ronix is listening and wants to help us out there).

Now we have cleared that all up, let’s get onto the boots themselves. We will not be giving you the tech specs, those you can find everywhere online, we will just try and explain what makes each boot different and why those that ride them choose them.

This is the Girls boot. This means if you have smaller delicate feet this really is the one to go for. We have ridden the men’s boots and a lot of the female riders are very happy with them, but the slightly narrower fit of this boot makes it our boot of choice and the one we will be buying this season.

We must say however, colour wise it is very similar to the 2015 model, but we still think it looks awesome.

2017 Ronix One

The One is the boot of choice for the other half of our office and marketed as the top of the range best of everything boot from Ronix.

It combines both flexibility and support for the ultimate fit. This is by far and away the most popular Ronix boot amongst freestyle kiters and whilst a number have tried out the Kinetic this year, they have all gravitated back to the One.

If our opinion once you ride the One you cannot ride another boot.

This year there are very stand out colour styles that we think really needs to be seen in to be appreciated properly. The rainbow version is easy to imagine, but that matt grey is actually a reflective tech skin to enhance the design of your board.

We can’t wait to get out hands on these boots.

2017 Ronix Frank

The Frank is the second most popular choice of Ronix boot amongst kiters due to its increased flexibility over the One, offering that little bit more lateral movement and flex.

For 2017 for us this is the best looking boot without a question and had us almost considering changing to the Frank based on its looks alone. Almost.

2017 Ronix Kinetik

New in 2016 the Kinetik is designed to be a cable park riders boot offering stiffness but with a lot of lateral flex. This provides a very supportive boot yet with the ability to tweak out those grabs and presses where needed.

Kiters jumped on this (it was also a little cheaper) however a number reported it was a little too stiff overall (kiters lean back and edge continually versus cable riders) although it can still be seen on a number of the boards we see on the beach.

If it is flex you are after allowing you the most precise board control and the ability to really exaggerate your tricks then this is the boot for you.

It is the Parks Bonifay signature model and like Parks has been around and very popular for a long time. It is slightly less popular amongst kiters as we tend to favour support over flex, but as park and feature riding becomes more and more popular then boot will be seen on more and more kiteboards.

The Parks colour choice has always been a talking point and one of those love it or hate it things. This year is no exception.

2017 Ronix RXT Massi

There is a new kid on the block for 2017. Meet the RXT Massi. Almost a Parks but with more heel/toes responsiveness and marketed as being turned ‘inside-out’ meaning it is the first breathable boot.

If you are lucky enough to ride in hot conditions and find you have sweaty feet (we won’t tell anyone) then this is the boot for you.

We can’t tell you much more as we have not seen it or ridden it in person but a subtly styled highly functional boot for sure.
