‘First Up, First Down’ – Volvo and kitesurfing

A number of you may have already seen this video doing the rounds on Facebook and social media, it features mother and son Stephanie and Olly Bridge as they travel to the Isle of Lewis in The Outer Hebrides in the company of a Volvo XC60.

The scenery is spectacular and the film is a top quality edit from Factory Media, Europe’s leading specialist sports media company based in London,  whose work and client list is nothing but impressive.

Whilst the cynics amongst you may say this is a glorified car advert we think that regardless of whether this is true or not, what is important is that we as kite surfers are being sought out by big brands to push their products, which is a real reflection of how far we have come in the public eye.

We spoke directly to Factory Media to find out a little bit more about the campaign and this is what they told us.

The campaign is a series of 4 videos demonstrating action sports athletes accessing uncharted places for them to perform their sports. Each place will have been accessed for the first time by car and ridden for the first time by anyone in their sport, with the intention of opening the minds of sports enthusiasts about the possibilities within their sports and also present the assured access that the Volvo XC60 offers.

The Volvo acts as a safe haven from the rough winds outside, and a welcome place of escape at the end of a hard day.

The other edits in the campaign will be Downhill Mountain Biking in Scotland with Steve Peat, Windsurfing in Yorkshire with Bryony Shaw and Surfing in the West Coast of Ireland.

We look forward to the other videos and we will be sure to share them with you.
