Can we be sexy and competitive?

That was the question raised by a journalist interviewing the beautiful surfer Ellie-Jean Coffey who is taking social media by storm thanks to her sexy blonde surfer image with tanned skin and super-white smile which translates into huge amounts of views and likes on her Facebook page.

However she is not alone, …when we think of others who are famous for their looks as well as their talents it does not take long for the name Alana Blanchard to surface or that of Stephanie Gilmore who don’t think twice about putting their name to the Biarritz Roxy Pro 2013, half naked.

Let us assure you though, this does not stop in the world of surfing and has arrived full force in the world of kiting. The question is, is it possible to be sexy and still be taken seriously as a competitor.

Here at KiteSista we say YES. If you look closely at these young girls and their rather alluring curves, regardless of what they are riding (if you will excuse the pun) they are still showing us a very high technical ability, elegance and engagement which only comes from a true commitment to their sport.

So whilst not everyone can be asked to glorify their image and sing their praises, let us not jump to judgemental conclusions of their choices which so often can be attributed to our own jealousy.

Finally, don’t forget the precision and commitment involved in dialing in a big trick whilst wearing nothing but a bikini, because you can trust me from experience, a big crash in a bikini is usually always memorable, and not always for the best reasons :)
